Lake Catherine
A New Agrarian Neighborhood Rooted in Legacy Urban Design by Geoffrey Mouen Architects – Groveland, Florida
Lake Catherine is more than a master-planned neighborhood—it is a living tribute to the land, the family who farmed it, and the town that shaped its identity. For over a century, the Lowe family cultivated this homestead with care and conviction, growing citrus and blueberries in the sandy soils of Groveland and raising generations who understood the rhythms of the land.
“We didn’t just grow fruit—we grew a way of life. Every row of blueberries, every grove of citrus, was part of our family’s story.” — The Lowe Family
This agrarian spirit forms the foundation of the Lake Catherine plan. Designed by Geoffrey Mouen Architects, the neighborhood honors the Lowe legacy through walkable streets, garden lots, and civic spaces that echo the spatial logic of historic farmsteads. Homes are arranged to invite porches, planting, and neighborly exchange—reinterpreting rural patterns within a timeless urban framework.
The design also draws inspiration from the City of Groveland’s architectural heritage: its brick streets, timber-framed buildings, and enduring civic character. These elements are reimagined in Lake Catherine through material choices, street proportions, and public spaces that feel both familiar and forward-looking.
A central green anchors the neighborhood, framed by mixed-use buildings and shaded by native trees. View corridors preserve sightlines to Lake Catherine, while stormwater systems and native landscaping reflect the ecological wisdom of the land’s former stewards.
“We always hoped this land would become something lasting—something that felt like home, even to people who never farmed it.” — The Lowe Family
Lake Catherine is a place where agrarian values meet civic vision. A neighborhood rooted in soil, memory, and the enduring beauty of Groveland’s past—now reimagined for a new generation.
